SHF announces golf partner for 2020!

The Superior Health Foundation is proud to announce that it will partner with the Caregiver Incentive Project (CIP) for the 2020 annual golf outing, scheduled for Friday, June 12, at the Marquette Golf Club. The event, which will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m., will again have a number of whacky, fun holes and a number of awesome prizes to win!

The Caregiver Incentive Project (CIP) is driven to increase the number of caregivers in our area by working with local universities to fund scholarships to incentivize students to consider being an in-home caregiver.

It’s a real need. It’s a national crisis. And, the Superior Health Foundation is committed to doing its part to help support this start-up, non-profit with enhanced visibility and at least $5,000 in funding to really get off the ground.

We’re excited to work with the CIP, Eric Paad and his board of directors on the golf outing.

Yes, we know it’s only February, but if interested in playing or being a sponsor, simply visit  https://superiorhealthfoundation.org/events/annual-golf-outing/

As always, we value your support!

Today, we send out a tremendous Thank You to Aspirus Hospital & Clinics for agreeing to be a Gala Champion ($5,000) sponsor for our Ninth Annual Gala on Sept. 12 in the Northern Center at NMU. SHF is forming a wonderful relationship with Aspirus and this show of sponsorship support is a testament of that trust. There are good things on the horizon. Thank you Aspirus for believing in our cause and offering your support! We are tremendously thankful! Awesome!

ConnectUP Rides to Wellness Program is up and running

Rides to Wellness is a comprehensive non-emergency medical transportation
(NEMT) program.
Michigan Transportation Connection (MTC) received a two-year, $800,000 grant from the Superior Health Foundation to build a service in all 15 counties in the Upper Peninsula to provide transportation for NEMT. This process involves finding transportation providers to provide the service and funding partners to make it sustainable beyond the two-year grant period.
To date (Feb. 18), six counties (Chippewa, Delta, Gogebic, Luce, Mackinac and Schoolcraft) have providers. In those counties, several partners are making referrals for rides. Every day, more providers and partners are being added, which allows expansion to additional counties.
At this time, ConnectUP anticipates its next level of service expansion, by summer 2020, to include Alger, Dickinson, Houghton, Menominee and Ontonagon Counties. Project expansion to the remaining counties (Baraga, Iron, Keweenaw and Marquette) is expected to occur by fall.
Rides to Wellness is only available to clients who are connected with one of the Rides to Wellness partners.
There is service to non-emergency medical appointments in-state and out-of-state.
For more information and to find what services are available in your area, call 1-844-532-7433 (press 1) or email mtctransit@gmail.com.

Today, the Superior Health Foundation was in beautiful Dickinson County where it did a pair of educational presentations. Lynn Hill and I thank the good folks in Iron Mountain and Kingsford for their hospitality and kindness. It was a great day!
