Superior Health Foundation selects recipients for 2017 annual gala!

This year, SHF is pleased to announce that, at the 2017 annual gala on Saturday, Sept. 16, two additional health-centered organizations will be recognized and awarded up to $10,000 apiece to support projects that align with SHF’s mission.

We’re pleased to partner with Camp New Day and HOPE Animal Assisted Crises Response.

Camp New Day is a one-week summer camp for youth ages 9-14 across the Upper Peninsula whose lives have been impacted by the incarceration of a parent. The camp focuses on the physical, emotional and spiritual health of youth impacted by an incarcerated family member/care giver. Every aspect of camp provides and educates campers about healthy lifestyle choices. Funding will help cover the cost of counselors, food, transportation, camp rental and registration for the attendees.

HOPE Animal Assisted Crises Response provides comfort and encouragement through dog-assisted comfort support to victims of crises and across the Upper Peninsula. HOPE teams currently respond free of charge and the burden of responses and training expenses is borne by each volunteer. Gala funding will assist with travel, food and lodging expenses for volunteers as well as train new volunteers in additional counties in the U.P.

The SHF team and Board of Directors are very excited to collaborate with these two wonderful organizations.
