2025 Spring Proactive Grants

Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter – Dementia Risk Reduction and Support Program – $16,575 

Grant funds will be used to support educational programs, caregiver support groups, and consultation services while also expanding local partnerships and volunteer efforts to increase program reach and impact in the Western U.P.

Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula – Elizabeth’s House Enhanced Recovery Services – $19,800 

Grant funding will enhance services at Elizabeth’s House, a recovery housing facility in Menominee for women struggling with addiction, and provide a supportive, safe environment.

Chippewa County Health Department – Managing Hepatitis C in Chippewa County – $25,000 

Grant funding will support additional nursing hours to test and treat patients for Hepatitis C in Chippewa County. 

Courage Incorporated – Courage Incorporated 2025-2026 Adventure Season – $4,000 

Grant funds will help to provide all-inclusive outdoor excursions by addressing gaps in outdoor recreation activities for individuals with mobility issues. 

Great Lakes Recovery Centers, Inc – Detox Unit Program Development – $50,000 

Grant funding will be used to update Great Lakes Recovery Centers’ detox units to be more medically capable within its four Chippewa and Marquette Counties residential facilities. 

Hannahville Indian Community – Three Fires Recovery House Ceremonial Lodge – $43,752 

Grant funds will support the development of a ceremonial structure that will accommodate a sweat lodge, traditional medicine processing, talking circles, and other cultural ceremonies for residents of the Three Fires Housing facility and nearby community who are navigating their recovery from substance use disorders (SUD) towards sobriety. 

Lac Vieux Desert Health Center – Lac Vieux Desert Harvest Health Grant – $55,000 

Grant funds will support improved access to healthy food, wellness education and programs, chronic disease management, and the development of a Youth Wellness Coalition for Native and non-Native American individuals in the Western U.P. 

Special Needs Are Awesome People (SNAAP) – SNAAP activities, events, and promotion – $10,478 

Grant funds will support social, recreational, and educational activities for adults with physical or mental disabilities in Iron County to reduce isolation and improve mental well-being.

Superior Connections Recovery Community Organization – Recovery Support Services – $18,595 

Grant funds will be used to support recovery-focused events and activities in Marquette County with the aim of fostering community, reducing stigma, and promoting holistic recovery. 

Trillium House – Caregiver Support: A sustainable workforce development plan promoting job satisfaction & safety – $49,718 

Grant funds will support technology upgrades, safety enhancements, and staff training, specifically aimed at improving care for individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia. 

UPCAP – UPCAP Rural Veteran Oral Health Access – $25,000 

Grant funding will be used to address the oral health needs of Upper Peninsula veterans through direct oral health interventions. 

Women’s Center – Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE) – $8,013 

Grant funding will support the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, which aims to provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered medical and forensic care for individuals affected by sexual assault in Marquette and Alger Counties.
