2025 Care Access Grants

Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan – Ensuring Financial Stability for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Blood Cancer Patients – $10,000 

Grant funds will be used to offer travel and prescription reimbursements, emergency financial aid, and ongoing mental health support through social workers, helping families maintain stability during and after blood cancer treatment. 

Delta Area Transit Authority – Expanding Access to Medical Transportation for Medically Vulnerable Residents of the Upper Peninsula – $4,000 

Grant funding will support non-emergency medical transportation for medically vulnerable residents in the Delta County.

Delta County Cancer Alliance – Travel for a Cancer Cure – $10,000 

Grant funds will reimburse mileage costs for patients traveling long distances to access specialized cancer care.

Lions of Michigan Service Foundation, Inc. – Michigan Upper Peninsula Hearing Improvement and Eye Care Project – $9,150

This grant will fund vision and hearing treatments to help children and adults maintain independence, succeed in school and work, and avoid costly long-term complications.

New Day Foundation for Families – Family Support Services for Upper Peninsula Cancer Patients – $10,000 

Grant funding will help cover essential living expenses such as housing, utilities, groceries, and transportation, reducing financial stress and preventing treatment disruption for Upper Peninsula families with a loved one in active cancer treatment. 

Northwoods Airlifeline, LTD – Free Air Transportation to Distant Medical Care for UP Resident – $10,000 

Grant funding will provide free air transportation for Upper Peninsula residents who need to travel long distances for medical treatment, especially children with cancer and medically fragile adults. 

Unite UP – Enhancing Pediatric Mental Health: Parent Only Sessions – $4,000 

This grant will fund parent-only therapy sessions that are critical to pediatric mental health treatment but are not covered by Medicaid or managed care insurance.
